Sep. 14th, 2017 12:33 pmThe Isthmus has a feature on right-wing Milwaukee pundit Charlie Sykes. He's been controversial in conservative circles for his #neverTrump position in 2016 and his new book isn't going to change that. (It's titled How the Right Lost its Mind). I normally wouldn't give Sykes the time of day but its interesting to read about an insider who's become an outsider for basically being correct.
In 2015, Igor Levit and Marina Abramovic staged a performance of the Goldberg Variations at the Park Avenue Armory in NYC. Upon entry the audience deposited their electronics and watches in a locker and then were given headphones to wear during an enforced 30 minute period of silence before the performance. Levit played the Variations straight through, 86 minutes, from memory to an audience that was, for a change, truly prepared for intensive listening.
Abramovic is perhaps best known for her earlier The Artist is Present installation at MOMA in 2010.
